Brent Hampton Reed was never a foodie until he tried Japanese cuisine. Now he is the sole owner of three Japanese restaurants serving up to 700 customers nightly. He loves providing a warm gathering place to enjoy amazing Japanese flavor from the sushi bar and hot kitchen, and providing a wonderful job to 100 individuals who care about what they do.

Growing up in Ft Collins, Colorado, Brent spent his summers camping, boating, hiking, and dirt-biking, and in the winters, he skied the Colorado Rocky Mountains. He first lived in Aspen in 1986 and 1987, taking a break from college. After earning a BS in accounting from Colorado State, he moved back to Aspen for the love of skiing. He passed the 1991 CPA exam on his first try and built a career in accounting and tax, mastering the numbers behind small businesses—how they profit and why they lose money. He specialized in restaurant accounting, tax, and consulting. His love for restaurant operations led him to Kenichi Aspen, where the food hooked him.
