Christy Vowers was born in 1977 in Evanston, Wyoming, and now calls Phoenix, Arizona home. When she was 16, her family moved to Ogden, Utah, where she attended beauty school and began her hair career in 1996. After working in Utah, she sought new opportunities in Hollywood, California, working in Beverly Hills in 2001 for a brief stint before settling in Scottsdale, Arizona. In 2003, at age 25, she opened her first salon, Aura Salon and Day Spa, growing it into a leading salon in the area. In 2005 she married her husband, and they welcomed two sons in 2009 and 2012.
In 2014, Christy faced a life-threatening fungal infection in her lung and spine that destroyed four vertebrae and two discs. She spent two years on a PICC line to recover and had to learn to walk again. After returning to work while raising her two boys, she sold Aura Salon in 2016 and rented a chair at the salon she would later purchase. In 2019 she bought Rowdy Hair, where she continues to work behind the chair and has grown it into a leading salon, which she is determined to expand further.
