Dr. Courtney Overton is an award-winning entrepreneur, professor, and speech-language pathologist whose career sits at the intersection of business, education, and clinical innovation. She is the Founder and CEO of Speech of Cake, a pediatric speech-language pathology practice providing year-round therapy, specialized programming, and award-winning summer programs for children and families. Dr. Overton also serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor and the Director of the LEAP Preschool at the University of Maryland, where she provides hands-on training to undergraduate and graduate students preparing to become speech-language pathologists. Across her roles, Dr. Overton is committed to supporting children and families while developing the next generation of clinicians and leaders.
Dr. Overton earned her doctorate in Literacy, Culture, and Language Education from Indiana University, with a minor in Educational Leadership and Public Policy, and a certificate in Entrepreneurship from Cornell University. She earned her master’s in Speech-Language Pathology from Emerson College and her bachelor’s in Speech-Language Pathology, with a minor in Linguistics, and a certificate in American Sign Language from the University of Pittsburgh. She is currently completing a Harvard University certificate program focused on School Management and Leadership.
