Holly Nye was born and raised in Charleston, SC. She grew up on a dirt road on Johns Island with her mom, dad, brother, Golden Retriever, and a large extended family of friends. She preferred trucks and sports to dolls and makeup and has always loved going to the beach. She attended Buist Academy and James Island High School, where she played volleyball and softball, attended honors classes, and was inducted into the Spanish Honor Society. She then attended the University of South Carolina, obtaining a degree in Sociology with minors in Social Work and Spanish. After college, she moved back home for a few years, where she worked for an attorney and waited tables. Next, she moved to Portland, ME, and went to Massachusetts School of Law outside of Boston, MA, where she earned a Juris Doctorate. After graduation, life changed suddenly and she found herself back in Charleston to start over and get back on her feet, all while planning to return to Boston and pursue a career as a prosecutor, but life had other plans.
She met her husband while bartending and they moved to his hometown of Conway, SC, where she worked as a social worker in a skilled nursing facility and fell in love with senior healthcare. After their New Year's Day 2015 wedding in Downtown Charleston, they settled into life, got pregnant, and then their daughter was born and life changed on a dime. Daisy Olivia Nye was born on March 31, 2016 by emergency C-section during a thunderstorm. At birth, her diagnosis of Down syndrome and her many other medical complexities, including a heart defect that required open heart surgery at five months old, sent them back to Charleston to be closer to the Medical University of South Carolina. Once she was cleared to go to daycare, Holly decided to go back to work and followed her passion for hospice, but on a new path in marketing, as she needed to be flexible to work from hospital stays, multiple appointments, and therapies. She has enjoyed an accomplished career in hospice, helping over a thousand patients and families, earning President’s Circle five years in a row as a top producer, and serving on the Board of Directors for the Lowcountry Senior Network for six years, including one as President.
