Jennifer Koon is the President of the nonprofit Northern Miami Preservation Society, based in the small town of Denver, Indiana. The organization's mission is to preserve and restore a historic pillar of downtown: an old Knights and Ladies of the Maccabees building built in the late 1800s. Originally, its upper floor was used as a hall for parties, dances, business meetings, and more. The restored building will become a partial museum and formal event hall space, keeping a portion of it for its original purpose. The project extends beyond that first building, as six other surrounding small towns also have underrated history, buildings, or churches that need financial help. The nonprofit serves the northern half of the county and relies on donations, fundraising, investments, and grants from surrounding communities to achieve its goals. Jennifer sees this work as bigger than one spot on the map: it is about restoring the backbone of the country. Indiana is one of the top agricultural commodities for the United States, and smaller towns feed the cities and help provide industry for the economy. She is committed to ensuring that local history is not forgotten.
She is also a six-year business owner of J.Koon's Craft, specializing in photography, art, writing, and music. Jennifer has also inherited the lead for "Tea and More", her late mother's tea business.
