Dr. Jenny Nuccio is a social entrepreneur, educator, author, and Founder & CEO of Imani Collective, an artisan design and manufacturing firm based in Mombasa, Kenya. For more than 15 years, she has worked at the intersection of business, leadership, and social impact, building sustainable artisan economies through design and dignified work. What began as a small sewing training program has grown into a multifaceted social enterprise that has created more than one million hours of dignified work, demonstrating that business can be a powerful force for lasting change.

Jenny holds a doctorate in Leadership Education and is the author of Let It Be Wild. She is an educator at California Baptist University, a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach, and has completed a certificate in Corporate Sustainability and Innovation through Harvard Extension School. Her leadership journey has also included the Acumen Fellowship, Stanford SEED, and the Miller Center for Global Impact Accelerator. Across her work as an entrepreneur, educator, author, and speaker, Jenny champions dignity over dependency, building with communities rather than for them, and creating businesses where purpose and sustainability are inseparable. Her work is ultimately about creating opportunity, developing people, and proving what is possible when we choose to build together.

IN THIS EPISODE YOU’LL LEARN:

  • That dignity over dependency creates deeper, more lasting transformation than charity alone can provide.
  • How Jenny built Imani Collective from a small sewing program into an ethical artisan manufacturing firm.
  • Why sustainable employment and economic opportunity empower individuals, families, and future generations in ways charity cannot.
  • How aligning purpose and profitability within one business model creates lasting social impact without sacrificing excellence.
  • Why listening before leading ensures solutions are built with communities rather than imposed on them.
  • How Jenny learned that good intentions are not enough when the underlying business model lacks sustainability.
  • Why responsible growth sometimes means simplifying, restructuring, or changing direction instead of chasing scale alone.
  • How measuring success by more than revenue reveals the true impact of over one million hours of dignified work.
  • Why building leaders and systems that outlive the founder is the real measure of sustainable success.
  • That you can create meaningful change exactly where you are by using what is already in your hands.
