Ten years ago, Lacey Hartmann was a small-town girl from a town of 2,000 people, married to her high school sweetheart and living a life she never imagined would change. Coming from a family where divorce simply didn’t happen, she never expected it to become part of her story. Less than two weeks before her divorce, she had no idea it was coming. Almost overnight, she became a single mom, unprepared for the reality ahead. With her family upset and no one in her corner for the first three months, she walked away with $15, no car, no house, and no clear future.
Determined to rebuild, she bought a car and rented a house. Six months later, the rental was sold, forcing her to move back in with her parents until she found the house she has called home for eight years. During this time, she became a contract vascular access nurse to provide a better life for herself and her child. Contract nursing taught her independence, financial responsibility, discipline, and self-reliance while giving her a career she loved and the confidence to pursue more.
While working in the city, Lacey learned about IV hydration and recognized an opportunity. She partnered with a nurse she had trained to place PICC lines, and together they opened their first IV hydration location. By their second full year, they had reached $1 million in revenue.
That same year, her business partner stepped away from daily operations to pursue her psychiatric nurse practitioner degree. Lacey took responsibility for managing nurses and the location while learning the entire business side of the company. She grew into a leader, made difficult decisions, and built an administrative team to support their expanding vision. What started with five nurses has grown to 19 nurses and 30 employees on payroll.
Looking back, Lacey realizes the woman she has become was far beyond what she imagined when she had just $15. Every setback, uncomfortable season, long day, and challenge contributed to her growth. Her journey required motivation, discipline, consistency, sacrifice, and an incredible administrative team that believed in the vision. She didn’t just rebuild her life; she created a future she never imagined possible. Most rewarding of all, the hardest chapter of her life became the beginning of her greatest growth.
