Rafael "Rafa" Martinez didn't grow up in racing. He built his career on a prominent commodities trading desk, where natural gas markets taught him to manage risk, act fast and never let ego get in the way of a decision. In March 2021 he went to Circuit of the Americas expecting to watch a race with a group of fellow McLaren owners. He ended up on a ride-along at a track day instead, and was hooked. Five years later he isn't just a driver, he's the man building the world around the sport.
Today Rafa is the founder of RAFA, a Houston-born family of companies built on one idea: "Race As Family Always." It spans RAFA Racing Club, a factory-backed Toyota GR race team competing in IMSA and SRO, a media and content studio, premium lifestyle brands, and a national expansion from Houston to Austin and beyond. On track, he has won races, finished on the podium several times and shown he belongs on professional grids. Off track, he defined Grid Culture, a category where car culture, racing, community and media meet, and where anyone with the passion can find a seat at the table, even if they have to build the table themselves.
